Lunch at Valletta offices.
A convivial lunch was held at the
GISED offices in Valletta, capital city of Malta, where
GISED executives entertained Mr. Vladimir Masar,
Governor of the Bank of Slovakia, and Hon. John Dalli,
MP, who for many years was Finance Minister of Malta. In
compliance with the international policies of GISED to
inspire co-operation, understanding and mutual
prosperity, experiences and ideas were exchanged around
the table.
The lunch was a great success as many
positive ideas were discussed.
Partnership Projects of Birkikara,
Malta, with Banska Stiavnica, Slovakia.
The Mayor of Birkikara,
Mr. Michael Fenech-Adami (youngest son of the President
of Malta, H.E. Edward Fenech-Adami) is pictured signing
the Twinning Agreement with the Mayor of Banska
Stiavnica, Mr. Pavol Balzanka.
Birkikara is the largest
township in Malta and is situated in the centre of the
island. The Mayor has just created a new sports centre,
partly financed by a Slovakian investor.
Banska Stiavnica is one of
the most strikingly beautiful and historically
interesting towns in Slovakia and was included in the
“List of World Cultural and Natural Heritage of UNESCO”.
For centuries it was a mining centre for silver and gold
and a centre of mining science and development in
Europe. Later the Mining Academy was combined with the
Forestry Academy and it is now an important Forestry
Technical centre which is important for the future of
rural development in Malta.
This partnership is part of
the cultural and technical exchange which is encouraged
and promoted by GISED as a catalyst for international
improvement and co-operation.
